    Another Tooth, Gone!

For the past couple days, The Moo Girl has had a bit of a snaggle tooth. Her upper tooth has been attached on only one side, causing the tooth to hang awkwardly in her mouth. It has been looking horrible!

Desperate for some cold, hard cash from the tooth fairy, The Moo Girl has wanted her tooth pulled for weeks. We all tried to pull the tooth, but it has not been quite wiggly enough to pull. Thinking of all that cash, The Moo Girl really wanted to tie a string to her tooth, attach the end of the string to a door knob, and SLAM! I had to put my foot down to her requests. No tying your tooth to a door knob, the bumper of a car, a brick, or any other horrible sounding tooth removing options. *shutter* As a girl that pulled all her own teeth, I consider myself to be an expert tooth puller. I have definite opinions as to how to pull teeth in the most painless manor. String to door? No, no, no. Way too painful.

As The Moo Girl's tooth has become wigglier, it has become more painful in her mouth and her desire to have it pulled has diminished. Her desire to have anyone touch her tooth has diminished. Tie the tooth to the door? Sure! But, pull the tooth? She was not so sure. But, as she was complaining about how her tooth was "paining" her at my mom's house (Grandma Noo Noo), my mom decided to give the tooth pulling another attempt. I had to interfere, however, when she grabbed a Kleenex to use to help pull the tooth. A Kleenex! Nothing sounds worst to me than having a semi wet, dissolving piece of cotton in my mouth and stuck to my tongue. Pull all my teeth, just keep the Kleenex out of my mouth! So, without using a Kleenex, one swift pull later the tooth was free.

As The Moo Girl was slightly traumatized from the tooth pulling, I got her some ice in a cup while my mom fetched a paper tool to collect the blood in her mouth. As she put an ice cube in her mouth, The Moo Girl insisted on looking at her blood on the paper towel. What a delicate little flower! She then needed to check out her new smile in the mirror. It was very exciting!

Later, I asked The Moo Girl if she would have another tooth pulled and she is not so sure. Having Grandma pull her tooth, she claims that she almost screamed to death. She felt that it was even more painful than having her ears pierced! I don't know if I believe that... But, her smile is sure cute! It makes up for the bad haircut.

    Playing with swimmy

Swimmy enjoyed a day of limited freedom last week. The Moo Girl was playing in the sprinkler and we decided to let Swimmy out of her cage to join her. Swimmy roamed the yard on her quest for exploration with The Moo Girl quickly on her tail.

If you can't have a dog, a turtle is the next best thing!

I bought Swimmy from the pet store approximately 20 years ago. For several years, she lived in another home before returning to me. While living at another home, she boy in the house would often take Swimmy outside in the summertime to play in the yard. Towards the end of summer one year, he took Swimmy outside but could not find her at the end of the day. The turtle had disappeared! She is a very naughty turtle... Although he continued to look for Swimmy, she was not to be found. The weather quickly turned cold and everyone figured that Swimmy was doomed. How could she survive a cold winter outside? As you can see, she managed to survive! She hibernated all winter and in the spring, reappeared. She continues to live a long and healthy life!

    Zoo

Almost a month ago now T. Dum and I took The Moo Girl to the zoo. It was a small zoo that we had not been to before, and might not go to again. The zoo was fine, just really expensive ($25 for the three of us) considering they had seven different types of animals. Seven.

    1. Cougars
    2. Reindeer
    3. Cranes
    4. Macraw
    5. Emu
    6. Emu
    7. Alpaca

They tried to make up for the lack of animals with different presentations, but the presentations were an hour apart, and how do you keep yourself entertained that long to see the different presentations when there is only seven different animals? I must say, there was no crowd and that was delightful! If we had go to the big Seattle zoo, although it would have cost the same, but there would have been a crowd! And, how much is that worth?

    School Days

I added more pictures of The Moo Girl in the School Days photo album. These photos were taken at her school concert back in June. She was the biggest ham in the performance! Dancing, large arm movements, and generally trying to make us laugh while she was on stage singing with her class.

    The Moo Girl and Dusty

    T. Dum's friend came over and brought along his dog Dusty. The Moo Girl loves hanging out with Dusty. While over at our house, T. Dum's friend put a hat on Dusty and took a bunch of pictures of the kid and the dog hanging out together. They sure are cute!

    Birthday Party

More pictures!!! These pictures are of The Moo Girl's half birthday party.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

The Moo Girl's birthday is around the winter holidays. In additional to the normal Christmas chaos, I was in my first trimester of pregnancy and feeling delightful! PLUS, I got sick for over a week, so then The Moo Girl got sick, followed by her father... We had a great family day on her birthday, but the birthday party with her friends just didn't happen.

I have always felt bad about The Moo Girl's birthday being during the holidays. We have talked for years about celebrating her birthday at a different time of year. I resolved that maybe the best time of year to celebrate her birthday was in June, her half birthday. The plan was to still give her some presents from her father and I and do something special for her birthday on the day, but to make the big celebration at her half birthday. However, every year as her birthday approaches, it never seemed right not to have a big celebration right then! But this was different. The party just didn't happen, so I went to my backup plan!

Her party was great! Being in the Northwest, I was worried that it might rain and how much work it would be to keep the kids entertained if it did. I had a backup plan for rain, but the weather turned out to be wonderful! We decided on a luau/beach party. There was a few games that The Moo Girl really wanted to play, but the real fun was all the water toys. In fact, it was torture for some of the kids to play other games when there was so much wet fun to be had in the yard! "I have to hit the piñata and get candy. *sign* I just want to swim in the pool!" We had a slip 'n slide, water hopscotch, a 3' deep kiddie pool, and a tiny pool with a slide that we filled with hot water as a kiddie "hot tub". T. Dum even built the girl's a sandy beach to play in!

The girl's were so cute to watch! And, it was the easiest birthday party EVER! But, as easy as the party was, her father was tuckered out after the party. I got a picture of him asleep on the coach *hee, hee*.

After we played some games and had lunch, I hardly had to do a thing. I just sat outside and watched the girl's play in the water. I didn't hear a single complaint; see a single tear, nothing! The Moo Girl decided that this was the funniest party and wants to have a one every year. We shall see... It worked out perfectly, but it still seems appropriate to celebrate her birthday closer to her real birthday.

    Playing Golf

I added some more photos! This time, they are pictures of The Moo Girl and T. Dum playing golf together in the yard. If you will notice, The Moo Girl insisted that she wear one of her dad's golf gloves. It might be a tad large for her little hands, but I am SURE that it helped her shot. In fact, as I was taking the pictures, jokingly she started trying to hit me with golf balls... and got surprisingly close!

    Water Fun

It is 5:00 am and I just cannot sleep anymore. What bums me out about being so alert at this time of the morning is knowing that at 7:30, when I should be leaving for work, I will be exhausted and ready for a nap. At least it is rather peaceful right now. The temperature feels great! And, looking out the window, I see a couple deer walking through the neighbor's yard.

I only have a couple more weeks of work before I go on maternity leave (yeah!) and five weeks left before my due date (an even bigger yeah!). The thrill of pregnancy is gone... Especially as I can barely walk, breath, move, and all around function for myself. I think that it is time to put my feet up (they are rather swollen, but I have great looking cankles!) and let my husband wait on me hand and foot! What do you think that my chances are of that happening???

I have updated my photo album with a new “Water Fun” album. (It is much easier to just upload photos than trying to remember funny stories.) The Moo Girl was playing in the sprinkler the other night and there are tons of photos of her fun. I was watering the lawn at the time and could tell that she was getting bored. As I distraction, I asked her to move the sprinkler. Initially, she didn't want to get wet... But, she complied and then came up on the deck to give me and a friend of mine a wet hug when she was finished. She was not too wet at the time, but she decided that giving us wet hugs was pretty funny. So, back to the sprinkler! And more wetter hugs! It was just the distraction she needed!

Remember when running in the sprinkler was tons of fun? Last year, I played with The Moo Girl a couple times in the sprinkler. I don't find it as much fun anymore. In fact, it was kind of boring. I was a bit disappointed as running in the sprinkler used to be a favorite activity of mine!

    Bridging Ceremony

In June... See how long it has been taking me to update my blog?! I have just been so tired, uninspired, and definitly not creative....

Anyway, in June, The Moo Girl officially became a Brownie! The ceremony is called "Bridging" and she went from being a Daisy to a Brownie. It was rather exciting and she loves her new vest. Personally, I find the brown vest to be rather ugly and prefer the Daisy uniform, but what do I know... In the photo album, there are some new photos of her bridging. Enjoy!

    Des Moines Park

Saturday was a rather busy day. The Moo Girl had Gymnastics, Girl Scouts, and a birthday party. I was beat! At least we had nice weather...

For Girl Scouts we went to the park to beach comb. We had a naturalist with the girls to answer their questions and there were several other naturalist walking along the shores that joined in to show the girl's creatures that they had found. As we walked out to the beach, there was vast amounts of barnacles to walk across. Barnacles as far as they eye could see... Although the barnacles were all pretty much the same, it did not stop the girls from stopping every couple of feet to "show" the naturalist what they had found. "Look at this, these barnacles are on a shell." "Look at how big of a rock these barnacles are on." Etc., etc., etc.

After about 20 minutes of marveling at the barnacles, we (finally!) got to the water and found some interesting creatures. The girls all screamed when they found a crab walking along the beach. The squealed when the naturalist pulled a giant moon snail out of the sand to show them how big of a foot the moon snail had (it was the biggest snail that I have seen!) The girls ran when a clam squirted water out of the sand. It was amusing to watch. The girls liked the hermit crabs and the purple starfish. Many of the girls did not like the mucky sand and having to walk through some water to get to our destination. My own daughter could have cared less about the dirt that was accumulating on her.

I took some pictures of the troop... but they are not great photos as the girls were really wiggly and I could not get any good shots.

    Bike Riding

About a week ago, The Moo Girl decided that she wanted to learn how to ride her bike. We live on a busy street and have a gravel driveway, so bike riding is a challenge. As we usually have to go somewhere else to ride bikes, it is far from a daily activity. But, since deciding she was ready to take the training wheels off, The Moo Girl has been bugging her dad to please teach her how to ride her bike.

Finally, after much anticipation (a whole week), T. Dum took the training wheels off the bike! He taught her ride her bike in our lawn. No traveling to get to the yard and once she got going, he was able to work on other projects! I have added some photos to the photo album that shows her on her bike. The Moo Girl was able to get the hand of bike riding quickly and didn't need her dad's help too much. She was soooo proud of herself!

    Family Portrait

Like our family portrait? I think that we should use this next year for our Christmas cards. Unique, creative, a touch of humor... What more could you want in a photograph?

    Photo Update

    Star Wars
I added a picture to the Star Wars Album. It is a picture of The Moo Girl sitting on the kitchen counter in her Star Wars costume. At the time, I was cutting up onions in the kitchen, so The Moo Girl put on her ski goggles to protect her eyes.

I added pictures of our pet turtle... just because I think that she is cute!

    Photo Update

I just added two more some more photos to the albums.

    Girl Scouts
These photos were taken at The Moo Girls' investment ceremony as a Daisy. This is the ceremony were the girls get first their tunics. The tunic that I recently burned with the iron.

The Moo Girl assures me that she is NOT picking her nose during the Pledge of Allegiance. She is just SCRATCHING her nose.

    Friends
This album is still a tad empty. It only has two photos... These photos were taken at her friend's birthday party. AND, as her mom so nicely e-mailed the pictures to me, they were so easy to add. No scanning with these photos!

Aren't the girls cute? They were playing princess and this was their castle.

    Star Wars Party
I added some pictures from the Star Wars party that The Moo Girl attended. Isn't she the cutest Princess Leah? The party was for the little boy in one of the photos. This was her boyfriend at the time... but they have since broken up...

    Camp Orkila

    T. Dum and The Moo Girl headed up to the San Juan Islands this past weekend for a father daughter campout. Check out the great photos!

The first photo is on the ferry ride.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

After the ferry, there are photos of the rock wall. The Moo Girl made it all the way to the top of the rock wall and then decided to try it again a couple minutes later. She didn't make it too far the second time; her feet hurt too much. That, of course, meant that dad needed to carry her for the next hour.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Following the rock wall are the photos of the giant swing. I cannot believe how high up in the air she went! I don't know if I could go that high without some concerns. For her first time on the swing, she decided to go on it with her friend instead of her dad. T. Dum was bummed as he wanted to go on the swing too. Luckily, they got a second time on the swing... and this time The Moo Girl allowed her father to join her. As always, T. Dum couldn't just hang there and swing. He had to make a giant swing an extreme swing! The two of them had to do tricks. They did flips, hung upside down... all while swinging... kids!

The rest of the photos are just hanging out around camp.

    Halloween

I just added some Halloween photos to the picture album. We carved pumpkins, roasted pumpkin seeds, decorated cookies but The Moo Girl and her friend had the most fun just dancing.
