    Playing with swimmy

Swimmy enjoyed a day of limited freedom last week. The Moo Girl was playing in the sprinkler and we decided to let Swimmy out of her cage to join her. Swimmy roamed the yard on her quest for exploration with The Moo Girl quickly on her tail.

I bought Swimmy from the pet store approximately 20 years ago. For several years, she lived in another home before returning to me. While living at another home, she boy in the house would often take Swimmy outside in the summertime to play in the yard. Towards the end of summer one year, he took Swimmy outside but could not find her at the end of the day. The turtle had disappeared! She is a very naughty turtle... Although he continued to look for Swimmy, she was not to be found. The weather quickly turned cold and everyone figured that Swimmy was doomed. How could she survive a cold winter outside? As you can see, she managed to survive! She hibernated all winter and in the spring, reappeared. She continues to live a long and healthy life!

Cute turtle! We just got a baby box turtle last week. We're in the process of setting up a huge aquarium for her to play in. How old was Swimmy when you got her?
